Inverters

Inverters convert the direct current (DC) power produced by the solar module into alternating current (AC) power. They are needed to operate

• grid-connected solar power systems
• off-grid solar power systems powering 220/110 V AC equipment

Inverters must be chosen carefully and in the proper size. To operate sensitive AC equipment, sine waveform inverters have proven an excellent choice. Sine waveform inverter current comes closest to grid-supplied current or household utility current, which has a sine waveform and can be used to operate sensitive devices, such as laser printers. Modified square wave inverters are an economical choice to run other, less sensitive devices, such as computers or televisions.
